Somali Cultural Week

Somali Culture Week is a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the Somali people. It is a time to come together and showcase the traditions, customs, and values that have been passed down through generations. Somaliyey Toosa organization paid a lot of effort and expense by bring various Somali traditional tools, like “Aqal Somali, masaf, fandhaal “ and other tools used in Somali culture.However, in the culture week all Somali people living in Italy come together from various regions in Itali, some are too far away from the demonstration site, but also attend that week.

Here are some key points highlighting its importance:

1. Cultural Awareness: It raises awareness about Somali traditions, customs, and values, helping to educate young Somali people who don’t have the opportunity to go to Somalia

2. Community Engagement: The week fosters community bonds, bringing together Somali individuals and families to celebrate their culture and heritage.

3. Intercultural Dialogue: It promotes dialogue between different communities, fostering understanding and respect through shared experiences and interactions.

1st Somali Cultural Week Event

For the first time Somali Toosa opened the Heritage and Culture Week event which was held from June 26 to July 1, 2022. The event took place in Via Della Tenuta Della Mistica 55, 00155 Roma RM Volontari Capitano Ultimo, Itali.

In Somali Cultural Week, we also teach multinational Somalis residing in Italy Somali culture, i.e., there are a lot of Somalis in Italy who their father is Italy and her mother is from Somali. So, it is very crucial for them that week, we support, teach them and their offspring our culture which we inherited from our ancestors a long time ago.

2nd Somali Cultural Week Event

Somali Culture Week was held for the 2nd year at the Villa Borghese (Via Delle Magnolie) Roma RM 28June to 30 July 2023 and was supported by the Office of the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri and all the offices of the Municipal Government of Rome

3rd Somali Cultural Week Event

The third time Somali Cultural week was held on 28 June to 30 June 2024 in Museo Della Civiltà Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, 14, 00144 Roma RM

Somali Culture Week is not just a celebration; it is a vital opportunity for cultural exchange, education, and community building, enriching both Somali and broader communities living in Roma-Italy.
